If it’s time for you to replace your roof, you may be overwhelmed by the variety of options available to you now. Shingle Roofs
Though the cost of both types of roofs can fluctuate significantly from place to place (because of the differences in regional labor rates), shingles are typically more economical than metal roofing materials. Shingles have also been utilized as roofing materials for a much longer period of time. They have a great track record as roofing material and will typically last up to (but not longer than) 50 years.
Shingles are also much easier to repair. Because they come in smaller pieces, small sections of damaged shingles can be repaired easily and inexpensively. They’re also available in a variety of classic colors and styles, which make them appealing from an aesthetic standpoint.
Metal Roofs
Metal roofs are significantly newer to the roofing material market, but they’re quickly making a name for themselves. They are lightweight and perform really well under extreme weather conditions, so from a performance standpoint they may be more cost-effective. They can last up to 100 years and, to make up for the challenges of repairs, they come with very comprehensive warranties.
Metal roofs are also environmentally friendly since they do not require any tar production to function properly.
